Description: This organism was originally isolated from a dog in an animal clinic in Upsala, Sweden, hence the species name. It is now known that this organism is a human enteropathogen like the related C. jejuni and C. coli. Normally this organism causes an acute self-limiting diarrhea but can also cause bacteremia and septicemia in immunocompromised individuals. vere effects such as spontaneous abortion have also been associated with this organism.
